Sir Ray Tindle

We were saddened to learn of the death of Sir Ray Tindle, the former chairman of Tindle Newspapers and a long-term and passionate supporter of the Run.
'Over many, many years Sir Ray Tindle has been one of the most enthusiastic supporters of the legendary London to Brighton Veteran Car Run both as a regular participant and, via Tindle Newspapers, as a very supportive media partner to the magical annual event. In 2013 after a record 20 years of sponsorship of the event, Sir Ray donated a magnificent Georgian cup asking that it be presented to recognise the ‘spirit of the Run’, it is an award that is given to the resolute and persevering participant for whom the event is a challenging adventure. The Club named it the Sir Ray Tindle Trophy in honour of Sir Ray’s contribution and many years of support. On behalf of the Royal Automobile Club, it goes without saying that he will be greatly missed on this year’s Run in November and we send our condolences to Sir Ray’s many friends and family.'
